Dear Members and Guests,
Veritas Club enjoyed a rich calendar 2018.
As a private club, we curate events toward the inclinations and whimsy of our members, whose interests and hobbies are especially diverse, but have always revealed to be enlightening. It is this membership that we hold most dear, and as such, have spent much of the year reviewing applications and having meetings to determine mutual understandings among prospective members and guests, and their potential fit with the existing group.
As you know, our Interview process is unique. We held a number of them at favorite hotels, on the patios of two of the oldest private city clubs in Los Angeles, on the greens of private country clubs, in the dining room of Club 33, as well as on the deck of Members’ boats. We do this to keep things interesting.
Our most recent Interview 2, last month, was at a newly opened restaurant, where we challenged the chef to present to us a five-course tasting menu, with the highlight being a whole alligator, sourced from Louisiana and prepared with Mediterranean spices and flair. While the restaurant was known for its trendy yet still casual dress code, we took up the main room and wore tuxedos and floor length gowns. We were a sight to behold. Even select restaurant staff dressed up for the occasion. As in past evenings, many stories were shared and there was much laughter around the table. Afterwards, we retreated to a nearby house to give our prospective members and guests a glimpse of our much larger masquerade. The evening went into the early morning. Suffice it to say, much pleasure was had by all.
Still fresh in the minds of many is our latest series of FEAST and MASQUE, which was held earlier this month, in the hills of Hollywood. While we missed the presence of Members Big Easy, the Crimson Fox, and the Tin Man, we welcomed Nightingale (known for his distinctive mating call) as an official member to the Club.
In the spirit of the Holiday season, we feasted on geese with mashed potatoes, butternut squash, and the most delectable corn souffle. The Raging Bull gave the toast. Subsequent laughter and good cheers were had by all. We were also entertained by a five-piece jazz band piping the classics like ‘Iko Iko,’ ‘Sway,’ and ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz.’
This latest MASQUE also saw us reach optimal capacity with some of the most interesting attendees from all around the world. While there were many familiar faces, there was an overwhelming number of fresh, coquettish grins. The Alchemist, always the gentleman, made sure to keep our new guests entertained, and left to his own devices and bag of tricks, entertained he did. At one point, Bunnyman, with a captivated audience, held court and delighted his muse with a caressing style of rope bondage, interspersed with some impact play. The later midnight performance, as always, was a treat and full of chemistry and emotion; we even welcomed the participation of a special Guest, who stripped herself of her lingerie, to have hot wax poured down her back. The ensuing Pantheon show left the select voyeurs wanting more. Similarly, we enjoyed watching all of our attendees make use of the activation stations. However, when all was said and done, it was the Raging Bull who provided a raw and thrilling performance in the main room. For his efforts, he was awarded the Veritas Cross.
Together, we created moments and shared unique experiences that we will treasure.
Our next FEAST and MASQUE take place January 25th and 26th, respectively. Invitations will be sent out soon.
For Members, we have a Planning Activity, Tuesday January 8th. In addition, March 1st, Veritas Club Members are invited to attend as guests, Southern California’s longest running ‘fancy dress’ ball in Beverly Hills, hosted by one of the oldest, private social clubs.
We look forward to seeing you again in the new year.
Sincerely,
Veritas Club
